Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data The Kashira collects when you visit or buy from www.thekashira.com, why we hold it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

We are the data fiduciary for that information, and we handle it in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made under it.

What we collect

When you place an order: your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number, and what you bought. We need all of it to get a saree to your door.

When you pay: we do not see or store your card number, UPI PIN, CVV or net-banking credentials. Those go directly to our payment gateway. What comes back to us is confirmation that a payment succeeded, the amount, and the last few digits or method used, so we can match a payment to an order and issue refunds.

When you sign in: your phone number or email, so we can identify you and show you your orders.

When you write a review: the name you choose to display and what you write. A review is public — please do not put personal details in it.

When you contact us: whatever you send us, kept with your order so the next person to help you has the history.

Automatically, as you browse: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and what you added to your cart. This is ordinary web-server and analytics data and is not used to identify you personally.

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18, and we do not ask for or want caste, religion, health, biometric or any other sensitive category of information. Please do not send it to us.

Why we hold it

  • To process, pack, ship and deliver your order, and to handle returns and refunds.
  • To contact you about an order — confirmation, dispatch, tracking, and confirming Cash on Delivery before we send it.
  • To issue a GST-compliant tax invoice, which the law requires us to do.
  • To answer your questions and resolve complaints.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, and to keep the site working.
  • To send you offers and new arrivals — only if you asked us to. Every marketing message has an unsubscribe link and we act on it.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not rent it, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Who else processes it

Running a shop means other companies handle parts of it. Each is bound to use your data only to do the job we engaged them for.

  • Shopify — hosts this store and runs checkout. Order and account data lives on Shopify's systems.
  • Razorpay — processes prepaid payments. Your card and UPI details go to them, not to us.
  • GoKwik (KwikPass) — handles sign-in, so it receives the phone number or email you sign in with.
  • Judge.me — runs product reviews and the emails inviting you to leave one.
  • Courier and logistics partners — receive your name, address and phone number, because a parcel cannot be delivered without them.

Some of these operate servers outside India. Where your data is transferred abroad, it is only for these purposes and only to the extent Indian law permits.

We will also disclose data where we are legally required to — a court order, a tax authority, or a lawful request from a government agency.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This store uses them to keep your cart intact as you move between pages, to keep you signed in, and to understand which pages people find useful.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them entirely will break the cart and the sign-in, because those genuinely depend on them.

How long we keep it

  • Order and invoice records: eight years, which is the retention period Indian tax law expects for GST records.
  • Account details: until you ask us to delete the account.
  • Marketing consent: until you unsubscribe.
  • Analytics data: as long as the tools above retain it, in aggregate rather than tied to you.

If you ask us to delete your data, we will — except for invoice records we are legally obliged to keep.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data of yours we hold, and who we shared it with;
  • correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
  • delete it, subject to the tax records noted above;
  • withdraw a consent you previously gave, including marketing;
  • nominate someone to exercise these rights if you are unable to.

Email thekashira@gmail.com and we will respond. There is no charge for asking.

Keeping it safe

The site runs over HTTPS, payment details never touch our systems, and access to order data is limited to the people who need it to fulfil your order. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise — but if a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
